WPIAL 5A FIRST ROUND
#1 Armstrong 10, #16 Upper St. Clair 0 – 6 innings
Cameryn Sprankle threw a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts as top-seeded Armstrong (17-1) rolled to a 10-0 win over 16th-seeded Upper St. Clair (8-9) at Norwin High School. Emma Smerick collected three hits for Armstrong while Emma Paul had two RBIs. Jessica Pugh also drove in two runs for Armstrong. Elisa Tucker had two hits for Upper St. Clair.
Armstrong advances to the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will face off against No. 8 Thomas Jefferson, tomorrow at 3 pm at North Allegheny High School.

#4 West Allegheny 18, #13 Fox Chapel 3 – 4 innings
After being upset in the WPIAL First Round a season ago, West Allegheny would not let lightning strike twice as the 4th-seeded Indians (19-1) made quick work of 13th-seeded Fox Chapel (8-12) beating them 18-3 in four innings at Montour High School.
West Allegheny had four home runs in the game from Aubrey Police, Emily Nolan, Addy Vicari-Baker and Emily Vicari-Baker. Addy Vicari-Baker picked up four hits in the game while Police and Nolan each had three hits.
West Allegheny advances to the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will take on No. 12 South Fayette. West Allegheny swept the regular season series against the Lions in pretty dominant fashion.
#12 South Fayette 6, #5 North Hills 5
Liv Bonacci had three hits, including a home run and Maddie Cavenaugh had two hits and a home run as 12th-seeded South Fayette (11-9) upset 5th-seeded North Hills (14-4) 6-5, in WPIAL First Round action at Fox Chapel High School. Cavenaugh homered on the first pitch of the game to give the Lions the early lead. North Hills got back into the game in the fifth inning but a wild pitch, sacrifice fly and an RBI groundout gave South Fayette a lead they would not give up. North Hills scored two in the sixth inning but could never get the tying run across.
Emma Earley got the win in the circle for South Fayette. The Lions advance to the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will take on No. 4 West Allegheny at Boyce Mayview Park at 3 pm tomorrow.
#2 Shaler 5, #15 Bethel Park 3
15th-seeded Bethel Park (7-11) jumped out to a 2-0 lead over 2nd-seeded Shaler (17-0) but the Titans regained their composure and came away with a 5-3 WPIAL First Round victory on Monday at Fox Chapel High School.
Bria Bosiljevac was great in relief, striking out 11 and picking up the win. Alyssa Scaffold had two hits, including a home run for Shaler. Bethany Rodman had two hits as well. Allison Jones collected two hits for Bethel Park.
Shaler advances to the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will do battle with No. 7 Franklin Regional, tomorrow at 3 pm at Gateway High School.
#7 Franklin Regional 10, #10 Moon 2
Madison Nguyen and Alexa Patberg each homered twice as 7th-seeded Franklin Regional (12-6) brought the bats, taking down 10th-seeded Moon (6-10) in WPIAL First Round action at Gateway High School. Nguyen was 3-for-4 in the game driving in six runs. Sydney Jackson collected three hits for Franklin Regional while Chloe Lancaster had two hits. Alyssa Favarella homered for Moon while Kendall Chambers had two hits.
Franklin Regional advances to the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will take on No. 2 Shaler at 3 pm tomorrow, at Gateway High School.
#3 Trinity 3, #14 Penn-Trafford 2
Mirand Rinehart homered in the third inning and Hannah Suhoski scored the go-ahead run in the fourth as 3rd-seeded Trinity (16-2) held off 14th-seeded Penn-Trafford (6-12) in WPIAL 5A First Round action on Monday at Peterswood Park.
Bri Pusateri had two hits and drove in two runs for Penn-Trafford. Erin Drotos was 2-for-2 for the Warriors. Suhoski and Amber Morgan each collected two hits for Trinity.
Trinity advances to the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will play No. 6 Latrobe, tomorrow at 5 pm at West Mifflin High School.
