PLAYOFF SCENARIOS FOR GIRLS BASKETBALL SECTION HOPEFULS AND BUBBLE TEAMS
Thursday marks the final busy night of WPIAL girls basketball section play with some titles and postseason berths still up for grabs.
The section titles in Section 3 and 4 in Class 5A were decided Monday and the Section 1 title will be decided on Friday.
That leaves first place in Section 2-5A shining bright in the spotlight when undefeated Penn-Trafford (20-0) hosts Indiana (16-4).
The Warriors are 11-0 atop the section while the Little Indians are a game back at 10-1.
P-T has been perfect, outscoring its 20 opponents by an average of 58-34.
Indiana comes into this showdown having won five of its last six games since losing at home to Penn-Trafford on Jan. 13.
In that game, the Warriors rallied from a nine-point deficit at halftime to outscore the Little Indians 34-12 in the second half and win the game, 50-37.
Sophomore Isabella Fontana and junior Hanna Weishaar each had 11 points for Penn-Trafford.
Junior Julia Antonucci led Indiana with eight points.
You can see the game on Trib HSSN.
SEARCHING FOR CROWNS
In Section 2-6A, Norwin (12-7) is on game up on Upper St. Clair (14-5). The Knights are 8-1 in the section while the Panthers are 7-2. Norwin will host Hempfield on Thursday and USC is home to Mt. Lebanon.
PLAYOFF SCENARIOS ON THE BUBBLE
Life on the playoff bubble in the final week of the regular season can be a tad stressful.
In Section 2-5A, if Kiski Area (4-7) wins at McKeesport (2-9) and playoff-bound Greensburg Salem (5-6) loses at West Mifflin (0-9), then the Cavaliers will earn a playoff berth.
