Central Catholic Baseball Hands Butler First Loss of the Season
On a frigid Monday night, the Butler bats couldn’t warm up, resulting in its first loss of the season.
Central Catholic struggled to put up runs as well, but it was enough as they knocked off top-ranked Butler, 3-1, in Section 1-6A play.
Senior Vinny Rauso recorded three hits and knocked in all three runs to lead the Vikings. Also picking up multi-hit games for Central Catholic was sophomore Brandon Gelp (2 for 4 with two doubles) and senior Andrew Walker (2 for 3).
Senior Marshall McGraw picked up the win for the Vikings.
Central Catholic improves to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the section, a game behind Butler for first place. Butler is now 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the section.
The Vikings will be back on the field on Wednesday when they host North Allegheny at 4 p.m. The Golden Tornado will travel to Seneca Valley on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
