WPIAL 5A SEMIFINALS

#2 Bethel Park 8, #3 Penn-Trafford 5

Second-seeded Bethel Park (17-4) trailed 5-3 in the fifth inning and put up a five spot in the fifth and held on from there in a semifinal win over 3rd-seeded Penn-Trafford (14-6). Dylan Grabowski homered for Penn-Trafford.

Bethel Park advances to the WPIAL Championship where they will face off against top-seeded Shaler either Tuesday or Wednesday at Wild Things Park.

Penn-Trafford will play No. 4 Plum in the state play-in game either on Tuesday or Wednesday at W&J.

#1 Shaler 2, #4 Plum 0

Derek Leas threw a gem in 6 ⅓ innings with 10 strikeouts to get top-seeded Shaler (18-4) to the WPIAL Championship game with a 2-0 win over 4th-seeded Plum (14-8). Elijah Muckle was 3-for-3 for Shaler. Plum got the winning run to the plate in the seventh inning but Shaler reliever Colby Weber shut the door to get the two out save. Logan Kemmemer had two hits for Plum.

Shaler advances to the WPIAL Championship Game where they will take on No. 2 Bethel Park at Wild Things Park on either Tuesday or Wednesday next week. 

Plum heads to the state play-in game at W&J either Tuesday or Wednesday against No. 3 Penn-Trafford.
