5A WPIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Oakland Catholic

Oakland Catholic is in search of their seventh WPIAL Championship and their first since 2006. They have beaten Kiski Area (53-16), Mars (63-42) and McKeesport (58-51) to get to the WPIAL Championship game. Oakland Catholic boasts the top offense in 5A averaging 64.6 points per game. They only have one loss to a WPIAL team which was North Catholic on the last day of the regular season. They are led by Alexa Washington (16 ppg). She is a North Florida recruit.

South Fayette

The defending champions are looking for their third WPIAL title in program history. They have defeated Plum (72-29), Penn-Trafford (70-49) and Woodland Hills (68-25) to get back to the WPIAL Championship game. South Fayette has won 17 straight games. While Oakland Catholic has the top offense, South Fayette comes in with the best defense in 5A allowing 37 points per game. They also only have one loss to a WPIAL school coming to Norwin early in the season. South Fayette is led by Maddie Webber (17 ppg). She is a Villanova recruit.
