5A BOYS WPIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

#2 Penn Hills (20-3) vs. #1 Peters Township (22-3) – 9 pm – Petersen Event Center – TribLive HSSN, KDKA & WJPA

Penn Hills

Penn Hills is in search of their sixth WPIAL Championship, their last coming in 2018. They have won 17 of their last 18 games. They have been the top defense in class 5A for most of the season allowing 44.1 points per game. They are coming off wins over Trinity (38-29), Mars (76-40) and North Hills (67-51) to get to this point. They are led by Daemar Kelly (16 ppg) and Noah Barren (12 ppg).

Peters Township

Peters Township is looking for their second WPIAL Championship, their only one coming in 2009. Peters Township is riding a 15-game winning streak into tonight. They are the top scoring team in 5A. Last season the Indians went 8-14 and did not make the playoffs. They are coming off wins against Penn-Trafford (66-55), South Fayette (68-60) and Gateway (62-55) to reach the WPIAL Championship. They are led by Jack Dunbar (18 ppg) and Brendan McCullough (15 ppg).
