WPIAL 6A QUARTERFINALS

#1 Pine-Richland 14, #8 Hempfield 12

Jacob McGuire had two hits and four RBIs and Joey Perry was 3-for-3 driving in three runs as top-seeded Pine-Richland (15-6) outslugged 8th-seeded Hempfield (11-10) in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. Pine-Richland led 9-0 after three innings and held on late.

Tommy Zimmerman and Owen Henne each had two hits for Pine-Richland. Connor Burkey was 4-for-4 driving in three runs while Dylan Firmstone also had four hits.

Pine-Richland advances to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will take on No. 5 Mt. Lebanon today at 7 pm at North Allegheny High School.

#5 Mt. Lebanon 2, #4 Seneca Valley 1

David Shields threw a complete game, striking out 10 and Nolan Smith hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to give 5th-seeded Mt. Lebanon (11-10) a 2-1 victory over 4th-seeded Seneca Valley (16-5) in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. Zach Tkatch threw a complete game for Seneca Valley giving up two unearned runs. Mike Delduca was 2-for-2.

Mt. Lebanon advances to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will face off against top-seeded Pine-Richland today at 7 pm at North Allegheny High School.

#2 North Allegheny 3, #7 Norwin 0

JD Costanzo worked 5 ⅔ innings to get the win and Nico Varlotta picked up the four out save as 2nd-seeded North Allegheny (15-6) blanked 7th-seeded Norwin (8-12) at Boyce Mayview Park in the WPIAL Semifinals. Harron Lee collected two hits for North Allegheny. Norwin got the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning but couldn’t cash in.

North Allegheny advances to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will do battle with No. 6 Butler at 7 pm at Boyce Mayview Park. North Allegheny took two out of three from Butler in the regular season.

#6 Butler 3, #3 Canon-McMillan 2

James Desmond hit a go-ahead two RBI single in the seventh inning to give 6th-seeded Butler (13-8) the 3-2 upset win over 3rd-seeded Canon-McMillan (15-6). Madden Clement got the win on the mount for Butler going 6 ⅓ innings.

Butler heads to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will take on No. 2 North Allegheny at 7 pm at Boyce Mayview Park.

WPIAL 5A QUARTERFINALS

#1 Shaler 11, #8 Fox Chapel 1 – 6 innings

Miguel Hugas was the winning pitcher while going 3-for-3 with a home run as top-seeded Shaler (17-4) flexed their muscles rolling to a 11-1, six inning win in the WPIAL Quarterfinals over 8th-seeded Fox Chapel (13-9). Luke Jarzynka and Connor Hamrick both had three hits a piece while Colby McGuire had two RBIs for Shaler.

Shaler advances to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will do battle with No. 4 Plum today at 4 pm at North Allegheny High School.

#4 Plum 5, #5 South Fayette 4

#2 Bethel Park 6, #10 Upper St. Clair 0

Evan Holewinski tossed a complete game on the mound and homered as 2nd-seeded Bethel Park (16-4) got to the semifinals with a 6-0 win over 10th-seeded Upper St. Clair (10-12).

Bethel Park advances to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will take on 3rd-seeded Penn-Trafford today at 7 pm at Ross Memorial Park at W&J.
