Woodland Hills Captures Section Title With Win Against Penn Hills
For the first time since 2012, the Woodland Hills boys’ basketball team can call themselves section champs.
The Wolverines clinched at least a share of the Section 3-6A title on Tuesday with a 66-56 win against Penn Hills. They were also able to split the regular season series with their section rivals in the process.
Woodland Hills doubled up Penn Hills in the first quarter and led 35-21 at the half. They were able to hold the lead throughout the game.
Senior Amante Britt, the program’s all-time leading scorer, led the Wolverines with a game-high 27 points. Also performing well for Woodland Hills was junior Keandre Bowles with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Daivon Stephens led Penn Hills with 18 points.
Woodland Hills improves to 18-3 overall and 11-2 in the section. The Wolverines have a chance to clinch the section outright on Friday with a win at Penn-Trafford at 7:30 p.m.
Penn Hills drops to 18-3 overall and 10-3 in the section. The Indians will close out their section and regular season on Friday when they host Latrobe at 7:30 p.m.
