SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4

GIRLS BASKETBALL

6A SECTION 2

Upper St. Clair 61, Bethel Park 47

Upper St. Clair (17-2, 10-0) used a big second quarter and a huge response in the fourth quarter to defeat Bethel Park (6-12, 3-7) 61-47 on Saturday afternoon. Upper St. Clair has already clinched the section title outright. Bethel Park is 1.5 games behind Baldwin for the final playoff spot. Rylee Kalocay led all scorers with 27 points for Upper St. Clair. Kate Robbins added 14. Sophia Nath had 18 points for Bethel Park while Ella Sabatos added 10 points.

NON-CONFERENCE

North Allegheny 59, Cumberland Valley 35

North Allegheny (14-4) jumped on Cumberland Valley (12-7) early and used a strong defensive effort in the second half to pull off a 59-35 victory over their District 3 foe. Cumberland Valley eliminated North Allegheny from the PIAA tournament last season. Jasmine Timmerson led the way for North Allegheny with 22 points. Caroline Henderson added 12.

North Catholic 48, Pine-Richland 40

North Catholic (17-3) jumped out to a 29-15 lead at halftime and held on in the second half for a 48-40 victory over Pine-Richland (9-10) on Saturday. Anna Waskiewicz had 15 points for North Catholic while Ava Walker helped with 10 points. Madison Zavasky led Pine-Richland with 14 points. Catherine Gentile had 11.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5

BOYS BASKETBALL

Moon 67, Avonworth 37

Moon (10-9) used a big first quarter and only allowed 15 points in the second half to finish off Avonworth (7-12) 67-37 on Sunday evening. The game was apart of the Slammin’ at Sewickley Academy Tournament. Michael Santicola led Moon with 18 points. Elijah Guillory added 15 points while Aiden Reeseman added 12.
