USC Girls Basketball Wins First Section Game
The Upper St. Clair girls basketball team started section play in winning form on Thursday by defeating Canon-McMillan, 46-42, in a tough road section matchup.
The Panthers led by one going into halftime. In the second half, they led by as many as twelve points. However, the Big Macs mounted a charge of their own, cutting the Panther lead to one in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers held tough as they sank clutch shots and played sound defense to hang on for the four point win. Kennedy Bayer, Kate Groninger, and Lindsay Meyer each paced USC with 11 points. Izzy Allen scored a game-high 13 points for Canon-McMillan.
Upper St. Clair improves to 3-1 and 1-0 in Section 3-AAAAAA. Canon-Mac falls to 5-2 and 0-1 in the section.
The Panthers will play in the Hampton Holiday Tournament next Wednesday and Thursday.
