Upper St. Clair Knocks Off City League Powerhouse Allderdice
It didn’t take long for the Upper St. Clair boys basketball team to get over its loss against Mt. Lebanon. One night later, the Panthers picked up their most impressive win of the season, a 58-51 win against City League Powerhouse, Allderdice.
Allderdice has already picked up convincing wins against Class 6A contenders Butler and Latrobe, but that didn’t phase Upper St. Clair.
The 51 points was a season low for the Dragons.
The two teams were tied after the first quarter and Upper St. Clair held a 24-19 lead at halftime.
The Panthers held a 36-33 lead entering the fourth quarter and were able to tame the Dragons in the final minutes to secure the win.
Senior Chris Pantellis shined in the win, scoring 28 points, including five 3-pointers. As a team, the Panthers knocked down nine 3-pointers.
For Allderdice, senior and Dartmouth recruit Jackson Blaufield finished with 19 points. Dalen Duggar finished with 13 points.
With the win, Upper St. Clair improves to 14-1 on the season. The Panthers will travel to North Hills on Friday for a non-section game at 8 p.m.
