Trinity handles Penn Hills, 54-29, in PIAA First Round
The Trinity Hillers used two big runs in the first and third quarters to advance to the PIAA Second Round, defeating the Penn Hills Indians, 54-29, Saturday afternoon at South Fayette High School.
After a 2-2 tie to start the game, Trinity went on a 10-0 run to finish the quarter and led 12-2 after a quarter of play. Pace stayed the same in the second quarter as Trinity got the lead up to 11 points leading 24-13 at the half. Courtney Dahlquist had a big first half for the Hillers scoring 11 points.
In the third quarter, Trinity once again finished the quarter on a 10-0 run and extended their lead to 36-18 heading into the fourth quarter. After scoring the last 10 of the third, the Hillers scored the first 11 points of the fourth quarter and coasted to a 54-29 victory.
Dahlquist finished with 13 points. Ashley Durig added 11 points.
Jasmyn Golden led Penn Hills with nine points.
Trinity improves to 20-5 overall. Up next for the Hillers will be Great Valley (23-4), the District 1 runner-ups in the PIAA Second Round Wednesday, March 11 at Chambersburg High School at 5:30 p.m.
