TJ Remains Undefeated In Section Play With Win At South Fayette
The Thomas Jefferson girls basketball team pulled away from host South Fayette in the middle quarter for a 59-51 Section 1-5A win on Monday night.
The Jaguars and Lions were deadlocked at 17-17 after the first quarter. TJ was able to build a little bit of momentum in the second quarter, as they went into halftime with a 35-32 lead.
Defense led the Jaguars to open up the second half, allowing the Lions to score only six points in the third quarter, essentially putting the game away.
Thomas Jefferson had three players in double figures, led by junior Alyssa DeAngelo with 15 points. Senior Jenna Clark poured in 13 points and junior Dalaney Ranallo added 12 points.
Junior Clare Relihan had a game-high 19 points for South Fayette.
With the win, Thomas Jefferson improves to 8-3 overall and is tied for first in the section with a 4-0 record. The Jaguars will travel to Montour on Thursday for a section game at 7:30 p.m.
The loss drops South Fayette to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the section. The Lions will travel to West Allegheny on Thursday for a section game at 7:30 p.m.
