TIGERS CAP PERFECT REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN OVER WEST ALLEGHENY

The North Allegheny girls’ basketball team closed out the regular season on Monday night with a 61-50 non-section win over West Allegheny. The Tigers jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the first quarter and coasted the rest of the way toward victory. The NA defense limited West Allegheny, the Section 1 champions in Class 5A, to 2 of 26 shooting from the field in the first half.

The Tigers had three players finish in double figures, including senior Madelyn Fischer who scored a game-high 18 points on 8 of 9 shooting from the field. Senior Piper Morningstar added 13 points and junior Rachel Martindale posted 12 points. West Allegheny was paced by Grace Faulk who netted a team-best 16 points.

North Allegheny caps a perfect regular season with a 22-0 record. Playoff-bound West Allegheny ends the regular season with a 16-6 overall record. The Tigers will likely garner the top seed in the upcoming Class 6A playoffs when the WPIAL releases its playoff pairings Tuesday night.
