Thomas Jefferson’s Offense Erupts In Non-Section Win Against Chartiers Valley

The Thomas Jefferson girls’ basketball team scored their second highest output on Thursday night to race past Chartiers Valley at home, 83-71, in a non-section game.

The Jaguars jumped out to a 43-28 halftime lead and was able to hold on to a late surge by the Colts, who scored 30 points in the fourth quarter.

Senior Marina Petruzzi led TJ with 24 points. Junior Jenna Clark finished with 20 points. Clark led the team with 17 points per game entering the game. The final player scoring in double figures for the Jaguars was sophomore Alyssa DeAngelo with 15.

For the Colts, sophomore Megan McConnell poured in a game-high 30 points. Junior Mackenzie Wagner finished with 19 points and joined the 1,000 point club in the process.

With the win, Thomas Jefferson improves to 13-2. The Jaguars will return to section play on Tuesday when they travel to Gateway at 6 p.m.

The loss drops Chartiers Valley to 8-6. The Colts will return to section play and play their fourth straight road game on Monday at Lincoln Park 7:30 p.m.
