Third Straight Shutout Puts Norwin Into PIAA Championship

Norwin continued to roll in the Class 4A girls soccer state playoffs with its third straight shutout on Tuesday Night at Chambersburg High School.

The Knights latest victim was Conestoga Valley, as Norwin came away with a 2-0 win to advance to its first state championship appearance since 1997.

Norwin scored a goal in each half, while senior goalkeeper and Ohio University commit, Sam Wexell, extended her career school shutout record.

Alyssa Victor put the Knights on the scoreboard, converting on a penalty kick at 24:45. Norwin earned the penalty kick when All-American and Rutgers commit, Emily Harrigan, was upended in the box.

Conestoga Valley had a chance to to tie it a minute later, but Alexis Spencer rang a shot off the crossbar.

The Knights put the game away in the 51st minute with a goal from Katy Ericson. Ericson tally was set up by Lacey Bernick, who got Conestoga Valley’s goalie out of position.

The senior class for the Knights have been apart of thee WPIAL championship runs and now have an opportunity to capture gold in Hershey on Friday against Neshaminy at 4 p.m.
