Strong First Quarter Cements Win For Mt. Lebanon At Upper St. Clair
The Mt. Lebanon girls basketball team own sole possession of this place in Section 2-6A and are only a game behind for second place after a 58-42 win at Upper St. Clair on Monday night.
Heading into the game, the Blue Devils and Panthers were tied for third place.
Mt. Lebanon controlled the game from the opening tip and led after the first quarter, 22-9.
The Blue Devils played well after traveling to Philadelphia to play a game on Sunday.
Mt. Lebanon had three players in double figures, led by junior Patrice Smith with 17 points. Sophomore Morgan Palmer finished with 13 points and freshman Ashleigh Connor had 11 points.
For Upper St. Clair, seniors Sarah Price and Lindsay Meyer each finished with 11 points.
With the win, Mt. Lebanon improves to 6-8 overall and 5-2 in the section. The Blue Devils will host Connellsville in a section game on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Upper St. Clair drops to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the section. The Panthers will travel to Canon-McMillan on Thursday for a section game at 7:30 p.m.
