SOFTBALL

6A SECTION 1

Mt. Lebanon 8, Baldwin 4

Kate Borza and Olivia Buckiso each homered and had two RBIs as Mt. Lebanon (1-3, 1-2) got into the win column with a 8-4 win over Baldwin (0-7, 0-4) on Wednesday. Gabby Jaquay hit a home run for Baldwin.

Hempfield 9, Butler 1

Emily Griffith homered and Riley Miller got the win in the circle as Hempfield (6-1, 3-1) kept their winning ways going with a 9-1 section victory over Butler (1-6, 1-4). Peyton Heisler drove in three runs for Hempfield.

Seneca Valley 2, North Allegheny 0

Lexi Hames struck out 17 batters, giving her 33 strikeouts in the last two days, and Anna Kalkowski drove in both runs as Seneca Valley (4-0, 4-0) shut out North Allegheny (7-2, 4-1) on Wednesday afternoon. Seneca Valley is still yet to give up a run this season.

Norwin 7, Pine-Richland 4

Alyssa McCormick hit a home run, had three RBIs and was the winning pitcher as Norwin (5-2, 3-1) picked up another section victory on Wednesday defeating Pine-Richland (2-5, 2-2) 7-4. Bailey Snowberger had two RBIs for Norwin. Jocelyn Langer homered for Pine-Richland.

5A SECTION 1

Fox Chapel 17, Penn Hills 2

Hunter Taylor hit two home runs, drove in six runs and was the winning pitcher as Fox Chapel (3-3, 1-1) rolled to a 17-2 victory over Penn Hills (4-1, 1-1) on Wednesday afternoon. Ava Walmsley homered for Fox Chapel while Adina Rosen had three RBIs.

Plum 24, Oakland Catholic 0 – 3 innings

Kendall James had three RBIs while Liana Yusko and Danielle Pici had two and Plum (3-2, 1-1) rolled Oakland Catholic (0-2, 0-2) 24-0 in three innings on Wednesday afternoon. Mackenzie Marotta threw a three inning no-hitter in the circle.

Shaler 10, North Hills 2

Eloise Facher homered and drove in three runs while Bethany Rodman homered and drove in two as Shaler (7-0, 2-0) picked up a statement section victory over North Hills (6-0, 1-1) in a battle of undefeated teams. Bria Bosijevac struck out 11 in the circle for Shaler.

5A SECTION 2

Kiski Area 23, Gateway 0 – 4 innings

Mackenzie Rainey went 5-for-5 with a home run while Kaylee Musco was 3-for-4 with a home run and drove in six runs as Kiski Area (4-1, 1-1) rolled to a 23-0 win over Gateway (1-5, 0-2) on Wednesday afternoon. Hannah Simpson and Rainey combined to no-hit Gateway. Said Andree had four hits and Isabella Delia hit a home run for Kiski Area.

Armstrong 7, Latrobe 3

Emma Paul homered as Armstrong (5-1, 2-0) defeated Latrobe (6-1, 1-1) in section play on Wednesday afternoon. Jessica Pugh went 2-for-2 for Armstrong. Kayla Williams had two RBIs for Latrobe. 

Franklin Regional 6, Penn-Trafford 5

Adrianna Martz hit a walk-off single to keep Franklin Regional (4-2, 2-0) undefeated in the section as they beat Penn-Trafford (1-6, 0-2) 6-5 on Wednesday.. Alexa Patberg homered and Toryn Fulton drove in three runs for Franklin Regional. 

5A SECTION 3

Mars 4, South Fayette 2

Mars (3-2, 1-1) scored two runs in the sixth inning off of an error to break the tie and defeat South Fayette (4-4, 1-1) 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon. Alyssa Harris got the win in the circle. Live Bonacci drove in two runs for South Fayette.

Western Beaver 7, Moon 5

Shaylyn Shall was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs while Kaitlyn Zele drove in three and Western Beaver (5-2, 2-0) picked up another section victory with a 7-5 win over Moon (1-3, 0-1). 

5A SECTION 4

Thomas Jefferson 11, Bethel Park 3

Morgan Alisesky and Ava Trbovich each had three RBIs as Thomas Jefferson (6-1, 2-0) stayed unbeaten in section play with an 11-3 win over Bethel Park (1-5, 0-2) on Wednesday. Kendall Pielin got the win for Thomas Jefferson. Belinda Bova had two RBIs for Bethel Park.

Trinity 14, Peters Township 1

Ryleigh Hoy drove in four runs, Addison Agnew drove in three and Madison Argo had two RBIs as Trinity (6-1, 2-0) coasted to a 14-1 win over Peters Township (1-5, 0-2). Sami Bewick had two hits for Peters Township.

Connellsville 10, Upper St. Clair 1

Kirra Davis was 3-for-4 with a home run and drove in four runs as Connellsville (1-3, 1-1) picked up their first win of the season taking down Upper St. Clair (3-1, 1-1) 10-1 on Wednesday. Iris Burd got the complete game win striking out 10 batters. Sydney Fisher homered for Upper St. Clair.

NON-SECTION

Union 10, New Castle 9

Bella Cameron went 2-for-3 as Union (4-1) picked up a non-section win against New Castle (1-4) on Wednesday afternoon, 10-9. Olivia Hood hit a home run and had two RBIs for New Castle.

Norwin 13, Baldwin 3

5A SECTION 2

Trinity 7, Connellsville 3

Matthew Robough had two hits and two RBIs and Cole Carl also drove in two runs as Trinity (2-1, 1-1) bounced back to pick up the split with Connellsville (3-3, 1-1). Jonah Williamson had two hits for Trinity.

NON-SECTION

State College 4, North Allegheny 2

Evan Summerson had two hits for State College (2-3) as they defeated North Allegheny (3-1) 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon in a non-section contest. Spencer Barnett had two hits for North Allegheny.

North Allegheny 10, Chartiers Valley 0 – 5 innings
David Posey drove in three runs and threw four scoreless innings as North Allegheny (3-1) bounced back from their loss to State College with a 10-0 win over Chartiers Valley (4-2). Cole Hammer had two hits and two RBIs. Andrew Hart also had two hits for North Allegheny.
