SOFTBALL

6A SECTION 1

Canon-McMillan 10, Butler 0 – 5 innings

Brooke Bumer threw a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts and Kiersten Williams hit a home run as Canon-McMillan (6-11, 5-10) clinched a playoff berth with a big time 10-0 win in Section 1-6A over Butler (2-15, 2-13).

Baldwin 7, Mt. Lebanon 5

Anna Schumacher and Lacey Bonetti each had two RBIs as Baldwin (2-16, 2-13) won their second straight game beating Mt. Lebanon (6-12, 5-11) in section play. Brooke Boehmer hit a home run and had two RBIs.

Seneca Valley 1, North Allegheny 0

Lexie Hames threw a one-hit shutout with 20 strikeouts as Seneca Valley (15-1, 14-1) outdueled North Allegheny (14-5, 11-4) in Section 1-6A play on Tuesday.

5A SECTION 1

Plum 11, Penn Hills 0

Riley Stephans had two hits, including a home run, as Plum (10-6, 6-4) picked up a section win over Penn Hills (7-8, 2-8).

5A SECTION 3

Western Beaver 13, New Castle 2

Maddie Syka hit two homers and Emma Bogacki had two hits, including a homerun, as Western Beaver (8-7, 5-5) got back to .500 to finish section play with a 13-2 win over New Castle (4-12, 1-9). Keara Mangieri homered and drove in two runs for New Castle.

5A SECTION 4

Peters Township 10, Upper St. Clair 7

Elena Tylka was 4-for-5 and Sami Bewick had four RBIs as Peters Township (5-10, 3-7) upended Upper St. Clair (8-7, 4-6) in section play on Tuesday. Brooklyn Kemp and Elisa Tucker each had two RBIs for Upper St. Clair.

NON-SECTION

West Allegheny 13, Hopewell 12

AJ Arnal, Savanna Benish and Adriana Vicari-Baker all homered as West Allegheny (18-1) outslugged Hopewell (10-5) in a non-section game on Tuesday. Jordyn Gulmac and Ava Compton each hit home runs for Hopewell.

Latrobe 5, Ligonier Valley 1

Piper Zufall was 3-for-3 with a homer, Corrine Wright had two RBIs and Lauren Weatherton collected two hits as Latrobe (13-3) defeated Ligonier Valley (8-6) in a non-section game on Tuesday afternoon.

Mars 12, Fox Chapel 2

Adela Schrecengost had three hits as Mars (7-9) took down Fox Chapel (6-11) in non-section play on Tuesday.

Gateway 20, Woodland Hills 4

Gianna D’Agostino hit a home run and drove in four as Gateway (2-14) rolled Woodland Hills (7-7) in non-section action on Tuesday. 

BASEBALL

5A SECTION 1

Penn-Trafford 10, Franklin Regional 9

Gateway 10, Penn Hills 7

Brody Clemens was 3-for-5 driving in two runs, Ahmad Harris had two hits and two RBIs and Brandon Bell had two RBIs as Gateway (6-12, 3-9) defeated Penn Hills (3-12, 0-12) in Section 1-5A play. Kenny Boyle had two hits and two RBIs for Penn Hills.

Plum 7, Fox Chapel 6

Colin Watson tied the game with a two RBI single in the seventh inning and Dan Macioce hit a walk-off single to give Plum (12-7, 9-3) a share of the Section 1-5A title with Penn-Trafford defeating Fox Chapel (12-7, 8-4). Jack Anderson drove in two runs for Plum. Zach Johnston had two hits and two RBIs for Fox Chapel.

NON-SECTION

Chartiers Valley 5, Mt. Lebanon 2

Kyle Witte went 4-for-4 and Charlie Caputo collected two hits as Chartiers Valley (13-4) took down Mt. Lebanon (10-10) in non-section action.

West Allegheny 6, Hopewell 1

Cole Egan had two hits and three RBIs, Marc Starkman homered and Ethan DeBoth threw a complete game as West Allegheny (12-6) won a non-section game over Hopewell (7-11) on Tuesday.

Canon-McMillan 11, Ringgold 10

Austyn Winkelblech and Sam Meredith each had two RBIs as Canon-McMillan (14-5) walked off Ringgold (8-12) in a non-section game on Tuesday. Brad Banaszak had two RBIs for Ringgold.

Shaler 6, Avonworth 2

Derek Leas and Ben Yeckel each homered and drove in two runs and Luke Jarzynka had three hits as Shaler (15-4) defeated Avonworth (15-5) on senior day. Mason Metz homered for Avonworth.

Montour 7, South Fayette 5

Cole Fleck collected two hits and three RBIs as Montour (17-2) defeated South Fayette (14-4) in a battle of contenders in their respective classifications. Michael DiMartini had two hits, one being a home run and Tyler Pitzer collected two hits for South Fayette.

Armstrong 11, North Catholic 6

Peters Township 5, South Park 0
