Seneca Valley Rallies in Seventh To Upend Shaler
Seneva Valley scored two runs in the top of the seventh to knock off Shaler, 4-3, in Section 1-6A baseball action on Friday. The win brought four teams into a tie for first place at 3-2 in the section. Tied for first with Seneca Valley and Shaler are Butler and Central Catholic.
Down to their final three outs, the Raiders got a game-tying double by sophomore Gabe Lawson. Senior Anthony Cinicola would then deliver the game-winning single.
Junior Mike Morrone closed the door on the Titans for the save. Senior Luke Engel picked up the win for the Raiders.
Leading the offense for Seneca Valley was juniors Cory Greiner, Mark Trotta and Cinicola with two hits apiece.
After the game, the Raiders traveled to PNC Park to pick up a 6-4 win against Petersburg, W. Va.
Overall, Seneca Valley improves to 7-4 and Shaler drops to 5-5.
Seneca Valley will return to the diamond today when they host Canon-McMillan in a non-section game at 11 a.m. Shaler will travel to Kiski Area today in a non-section game at noon.
