Seneca Valley Captures First State Soccer Title
The Seneca Valley boys soccer program made its second trip to Hershey for the PIAA championship, and came away with its first title.
It took a little extra time, as the Raiders defeated District 1 champion Neshaminy, 2-1 in double overtime, in the Class 4A championship.
Zach Lavalle scored 36 seconds into the second overtime to walk off the championship for Seneca Valley, who finished the season 17-1-1.
The Raiders were in trailing for the majority of regulation after Neshaminy scored the opening goal eight minutes into the game.
Seneca Valley got the equalizer from Nathan Eastgate 9:29 into the second half, assisted by Lavalle.
The game remained tied until Lavalle’s heroics in the second time. Luke Simpson assisted on the championship-winning goal for the Raiders.
