5A SECTION 3

Kiski Area 66, Franklin Regional 49

Kiski Area (10-9, 4-3) used a 10-2 second quarter and a 20-12 third quarter to pull away from Franklin Regional (9-9, 3-4) 66-49. This game was made up from Tuesday when Kiski Area had heating issues. The win puts Kiski Area up into third place and the loss puts Franklin Regional in fourth place with Latrobe a game back of them for the final playoff spot. Noah Thimons led Kiski Area with 18 points, Isaiah Gonzalez had 16 points. Max Leven had 12 points for Franklin Regional while Fin Hutchinson added 11.

5A SECTION 1

Kiski Area 44, Franklin Regional 40

Kiski Area (7-11, 4-5) trailed Franklin Regional (6-12, 4-6) 20-18 at the half but stormed out in the third quarter and was able to hang on in the fourth, for a 44-40 victory. This was a big win for Kiski Area as with the win, they jumped Franklin Regional and Penn Hills for the final playoff spot. They currently hold a half-game lead over both teams. Abbie John led the way for Kiski Area with 13 points, Rikiya Garcia-Broaden added 11 points and Gianna Devito pitched in 10. Olivia Orndoff had 13 points for Franklin Regional while Sarah Penrod had 10.

NON-CONFERENCE

Obama Academy 49, Gateway 40

It was a back-and-forth game all night but Obama Academy (13-4) used a 16-6 fourth quarter to pull away from Gateway (4-14) in non-section action Wednesday night. Ny’Asia Benton and Kimaya Williams each had 14 points while Taylor Phillips had 13 points for Obama Academy. Amiya White led Gateway in scoring with 11 points.
