Peters Township Takes Control Of Section With Win

The Peters Township girls’ basketball team took a giant leap towards securing a section title on Monday night with a 58-44 win at home against Bethel Park.

Entering the game, the Indians and Black Hawks were tied for the section lead, but now Peters Township has swept the season series, essentially putting them two games ahead.

It was all Peters Township from the start as they built a 31-16 halftime lead.

Sophomore Makenna Marisa was the driving force for the Indians with a game-high 23 points. JuniorĀ Maria Cerro paced the Black Hawks with 14 points.

The win improves Peters Township to 12-2 overall and 5-1 in Section 3-6A. The Indians will look to keep it going on Thursday when they travel to Baldwin at 7:30 p.m.

Bethel Park drops to 10-4 and 4-2 and ended its five game win streak. They will look to get back on track on Thursday when they host Upper St. Clair at 7:30 p.m.
