Peters Township Rallies In Second Half To Advance To Semifinals
The Peters Township girls soccer team was in trouble on its home field at halftime against Butler in the Class 4A WPIAL Quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
Down 1-0 after after 40 minutes, the No. 3 Indians rallied for two goals in the second half against the No. 11 Golden Tornado for a 2-1 win, advancing to the semifinals on Saturday against No. 2 Norwin.
Butler took an early lead with a goal from sophomore Gabrielle Boden 12 minutes into the game.
The Indians found the equalizer four minutes into the second half off the foot of senior Regan LaVigna. Peters Township got the game-winning goal from junior Hannah Stuck, who heading the ball in from a corner kick with 25 minutes remaining in the game.
Peters Township improves to 15-3 overall and will face Norwin (15-2) in the Class 4A WPIAL semifinals on Saturday at Elizabeth Forward at 5 p.m.
