Peter’s Township Head Coach Joe Maize Picks Up Win No. 400
There weren’t many baseball games played yesterday, but for Peters Township Head Coach Joe Maize, it will be a day he will never forget.
The Indians traveled to Steel Valley and got a game in on its turf field and came away with an 11-4 victory, giving Maize No. 400 of his career, all at one school.
Entering the season, Maize stood at 398 before picking up a win 6-2 win at Chartiers Valley in the season-opener on March 26 and then the win on Wednesday.
In his 34th season, Maize has a career record of 400-225. He has won eight section championships, two WPIAL titles (back-to-back in 2007 and 2008), and a couple of PIAA runner-up finishes in 2004 and 2005.
The Indians will head down South next for their spring trip. First game is scheduled on Tuesday, April 3 against Hartsville, SC at 6:45 p.m.
