Peters Township Edges Norwin In Matchup Of Section Champs

If Peters Township and Norwin meet again, it won’t be in the first round of the girls Class 6A WPIAL championships. Both teams won their respective sections and got a good taste of how they match up with each other on Monday night.

In a tough road game, Peters Township game away with a 56-55 win.

The Indians held a 31-28 lead at halftime but the Knights stormed back to take a 50-44 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Peters Township controlled the final eight minutes, holding Norwin to five points to squeeze out the victory.

Junior Makenna Marisa finished with a game-high 23 points for the Indians. Senior Magen Polczynski and freshman Danielle Rosso had 12 points apiece for the Knights.

Peters Township finished the regular season with a 19-3 record and Norwin enters the playoffs with a 11-9 record.
