Penn-Trafford Softball Shuts Out Franklin Regional, Moves Into First Place
Penn-Trafford and Franklin Regional swapped positions in the Section 1-5A softball standings on Tuesday with a 6-0 home win for the Warriors.
Penn-Trafford now sits a half-game ahead of Franklin Regional as the teams split the season series. Both teams have clinched a spot in the playoffs.
The Warriors scored all their runs in two innings, putting up a 3-spot in the bottom of the third and the fifth. Penn-Trafford had nine players recored a hit in the game.
Senior Emma Nedley and freshman Brooke Cleland both hit home runs for the Warriors. Junior Emma Armstrong recorded two doubles.
Sophomore Morgan Hilty picked up the complete-game shutout for the Warriors, allowing six hits.
Penn-Trafford improves to 13-2 overall and 11-1 in the section. They will go for their seventh straight win on Thursday in their section finale at Kiski Area at 4 p.m.
Franklin Regional drops to 12-3 overall and 10-1 in the section. The loss snapped their four game win streak. They will try to start a new one today when they host Greensburg Salem at 4 p.m.
