Oakland Catholic Bounces Back With Win Against Gateway
Fresh off its first section loss of the season, Oakland Catholic was able to right the ship in a pivotal game against Gateway on Thursday night. Both teams entered the game with one loss in the section, but only the Eagles maintained that in their 39-32 win.
The Eagles have relied a lot on their defense this season, allowing 34.6 points per game, and Thursday night was no different.
The Gators held a 27-26 lead entering the final quarter, but the Eagles outscored them 13-5 to take the commanding lead and win. The fourth quarter was a complete turnaround from their last game against Thomas Jefferson. I that game, they were tied entering the fourth and lost by 13.
Junior Jayde Boyd led the Eagles with 10 points. Senior Jordan Edwards had a game-high 12 points for the Gators.
With the win, Oakland Catholic improves to 7-3 and 2-1 in Section 2-5A. They will travel to Woodland Hills on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Gateway drops to 7-3 and 1-2. They will look to rebound with a home game against West Mifflin on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
