Winners of 68 consecutive regular season games, the top-ranked New Castle Red Hurricanes finished up the 2014 regular season with a 58-43 home triumph over Central Valley on Monday night. The win marks the third consecutive regular season that New Castle has concluded with an unblemished record. Senior Malik Hooker and Anthony Richards helped the Red Hurricanes to the win over CV with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Perhaps the most impressive regular season victory this season for the Red Hurricanes was a 62-59 triumph over Lower Merion in mid-January, the same team that defeated New Castle in the PIAA semifinals last year. Senior Drew Allen converted a pivotal four-point play in double overtime to help NC earn a measure of revenge over Lower Merion.

New Castle sits at 22-0 overall and cruised to a Section 3-AAAA crown. The Red Hurricanes are virtually assured a top-seed in the Quad-A bracket when the WPIAL Pairings are released tonight.  Check back at pabig56.com for the latest on the Quad-A brackets in both boys and girls basketball.
