Mt. Lebanon pulls away from Peters Township in Fourth Quarter

The Mt. Lebanon boys basketball team held a narrow 43-40 lead against up-and-coming Peters Township heading into the fourth quarter, but the experience of the Blue Devils and the home crowd propelled them to a 61-49 Section 2-6A win on Friday night.

Mt. Lebanon outscored Peters Township 18-9 in the final quarter.

The Blue Devils held a 33-27 halftime lead before the Indians began to creep into it and make it a one possession game entering the fourth quarter.

Junior Jake Hoffman led the way for Mt. Lebanon with 20 points. Junior Blaine Gartley finished with 13 points.

For Peters Township, senior Dax Ploskina had a team-high 16 points. Junior Colin Cote finished with 15 points.

With the win, Mt. Lebanon improves to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the section. The Blue Devils upped their win streak to five games and will to take over sole possession of first place on Tuesday when they travel to Upper St. Clair at 7:30 p.m.

Peters Township had its seven game win streak snapped and now sit at 9-3 overall and 2-2 in the section. The Indians will host Canon-McMillan on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
