Mt. Lebanon Overcomes Early Deficit To Advance To Class 4A WPIAL Quarterfinals
The Mt. Lebanon girls soccer team turned a 1-0 halftime deficit into a 2-1 win at home against Connellsville in the first round of the Class 4A WPIAL playoffs on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead with a goal from junior Callie Cunningham with 2:07 remaining in the first half.
Mt. Lebanon found the equalizer with 31:05 left in the game off the foot of senior Michelle Malizio. The Blue Devils got the winning goal from junior Megan Haslett with 11:26 remaining in the game.
The Blue Devils improve to 11-5-3 and advance to the quarterfinals on Wednesday to face top-seed Seneca Valley at a site and time to be determined.
Connellsville’s season ends with a 12-6 record and its second straight loss in the WPIAL first round.
