Moon Makes Name For Themself In Class 4A With Win At USC
The Moon girls’ soccer team ran the table last year going 26-0-0 en route to a Class 3A WPIAL and PIAA championship.
With the new two-year reclassification cycle beginning this year, the Tigers made the jump up to Class 4A. Through seven games, the Tigers have shown that they have belonged, especially in their win on Wednesday at Upper St. Clair.
The Panthers were a Class 4A WPIAL semifinalist a year ago and were looking to show the Tigers why. After a scoreless first half, Upper St. Clair jumped out to a 1-0 lead.
Moon responded quickly with two goals and were able to hang on to the 2-1 win.
The win was their third straight and improved the Tigers’ record to 5-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the section. They are currently in second place. Moon will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Butler for a non-section game at 6 p.m.
Upper St. Clair drops to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the section. They are currently sixth in the Section 2-4A. The loss snapped a three game win streak. The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Montour for a non-section game at 11:30 am.m
