Moon Baseball Hands West Allegheny First Loss

Posted on:

In its game on April 21, Moon didn’t score a run against West Allegheny in a 7-0 defeat. Fast-forwarding to Wednesday, it seems like the Tigers were saving all their runs for their Section Section 2-5A game at West Allegheny.

Moon scored double digits in defeating West Allegheny, 11-5, handing the Indians their first loss of the season.

The Tigers led the game off with a home run from junior Juston Jones. From their West Allegheny scored five unanswered runs to take a 5-1 lead. At that point, it seemed like it would be another win for the Indians, but the Tigers responded with the final 10 runs of the game.

Moon took the lead for good in the fifth inning, 6-5, and tacked on five more runs in the seventh inning.

Also hitting home runs in the game for the Tigers were seniors Anthony Fachet and Ryan Zimmerman.

The win pulls Moon to within a half-game of West Allegheny for the section lead with a 9-3 overall record and 9-1 mark in the section. West Allegheny drops to 10-1 overall and in the section.

Moon hosts Montour today at 4:15 p.m. for a chance to stay in the section race with a win. West Allegheny travels to Chartiers Valley on Friday for their section finale at 4:30 p.m.
