Montour Prevails In Overtime For Sole Possession Of Third Place

After Trinity forced overtime at the buzzer, the Montour boys basketball team prevailed on the road for a 59-53 Section 2-5A win.

The Spartans and Hillers have now split the season series with Trinity picking up a 61-58 win on Dec. 18. Montour now sits in third place in the section by themselves.

Junior Dylan King’s tip-in at the buzzer forced overtime for Trinity, but Montour regained the momentum, outscoring the Hillers 11-5 in the extra period.

Both teams were neck-and-neck throughout the entire game, with Montour holding a two-point halftime lead.

For Montour, junior James Eubanks finished with a game-high 22 points. Seniors Anthony Tambellini and Jaden Nelson finished with 12 points apiece.

King led Trinity with 20 points. Junior Michael Koroly finished with 13 points.

With the win, Montour improves to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the section. The Spartans will look for their sixth win in their last seven games on Friday at West Allegheny at 7:30 p.m.

Trinity drops to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the section. The Hillers will look to stop their two-game losing skid on Friday when they travel to West Mifflin at 7:30 p.m.
