McKeesport’s Layton Jordan commits to Temple University

McKeesport seniorĀ Layton Jordan became the latest football player in the Big 56 Conference to earn a Division I scholarship. Jordan announced via Twitter on Dec. 7 that he has committed to Temple University.

Jordan was selected as a first-team running back in the Class 5A Big East Conference, leading his team to the WPIAL semifinals and WPIAL final appearance in 2016.

Jordan led the team this season with 1,313 rushing yards (9.4 yards per carry) and second on the team with 16 touchdowns. He also finished third in Class 5A in rushing and sixth in touchdowns.

He also played defensive back for a Tigers team that held opponents to 14.7 points per game.

Temple University competes in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and finished the season with a 6-6 record. The Owls will compete in the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl on Dec. 21 against Florida International University in St. Petersburg, Fla.
