Late Goal Sends Seneca Valley Back To WPIAL Championship Game
For the second time in three years, the Seneca Valley boys soccer team will be playing at Highmark Stadium for the Class 4A WPIAL Championship.
This time around, the top-seed Raiders punched their ticket with a 3-2 win against No. 4 Canon-McMillan at Mars High School in the WPIAL semifinals. Seneca Valley is hoping for a better result in the title game than a couple of years ago, entering the game undefeated and losing to North Allegheny, 2-1.
On Monday, senior AJ Mills scored the decisive goal with less than seven minutes left to break the 2-2 tie. Also scoring in the contest for the Raiders were seniors Jackson Wotus and Tanner Howard. Wotus was named First-Team All=Section earlier in the day.
For the Big Macs, Tommy Samosky and Austin McColpin both scored for Canon-McMillan. Samosky was named first-team and McColpin was a second-team all-section.
Seneca Valley improves to 16-2-1 and will face No. 2 Norwin in the Class 4A Championship Game at Highmark Stadium on Saturday at 5:45 p.m.
