Senior Terron Taylor‘s jumper with 4.3 seconds left lifted McKeesport to a 53-51 non-section win against Gateway in the Westmoreland Shootout at Seton Hill University on Saturday.

Taylor’s bucket saved the Tigers from a collapse after they held a 16-9 lead after the first quarter in a potential Class 5A WPIAL playoff rematch.

The Tigers led 23-13 at the half, but the Gators rallied back with a 16-10 advantage in the third quarter.

Seniors Jordan Grayson and Layton Jordan led McKeesport in scoring with 17 and 16 points, respectively. For Gateway, senior John Paul Kromka led the way with a game-high 25 points.

The win was the ninth straight for McKeesport who improves to 13-6. The Tigers will play Albert Gallatin in their section home finale on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Gateway drops to 10-9 on the season. The Gators will face Highlands in their home section finale on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
