Upper St. Clair completed the sweep of their Section 2-AAAA rival, Bethel Park, losing in straight sets on Tuesday.

The Panthers won by scores of  25-14, 25-13, and 25-22. The Black Hawks fought hard in the third, but were unable to close in order to force the fourth set.

Erin Sullivan led Bethel Park in kills again with eight followed by Stephanie Kazalas (6) and Brenna Manko (4).

Upper St. Clair’s outside hitter duo of Alex Amos and Isabelle Walsh — both are committed to playing at Division I schools — were phenomenal for the Panthers. Amos, who will join her sister at Duke University in the fall, had nine kills, and Walsh, who will play for Saint Louis University next year, had 26 total kills. The Panthers’ efforts led by these two seniors was just too much for the Hawks.

The Lady Hawks are now 7-6 overall and 5-4 in section. They are currently holding the fourth and final playoff spot in the section. The Panthers improve to 9-3, 8-2 and sit in second place in the section.

The girls travel to Mt. Lebanon on Thursday, Oct. 12 for their second meeting of the season and another Pink Out game. They will return to The Nest next week, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, one final time this regular season to face Canon-McMillan once more for Senior Night.
