Girls Volleyball Class 4A Championship Game Preview
It will be a busy Saturday at Fox Chapel High School, with five girls volleyball matches, including four championship matches. The final match of the day will feature the top two teams in Class 4A, North Allegheny and Baldwin. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
No. 1 North Allegheny Tigers (18-0) vs. No. 2 Baldwin Fighting Highlanders (15-1)
North Allegheny is seeking its second straight WPIAL Championship after defeating Armstrong at Baldwin last year, 3-0. The Tigers are currently on a 42-match win streak after going undefeated last year en route to a PIAA championship. North Allegheny reached the Championship Game with a sweep against No. 4 Oakland Catholic in the semifinals at North Hills on Wednesday. It was a tight first set, winning 27-25, before winning 25-17 in both the second and third sets. North Allegheny has recorded sweeps in 16 of its 18 matches this year…Baldwin is making its second title appearance in three years. The Fighting Highlanders are hoping for a different result this time, losing in straight sets to Seneca Valley in 2016. Baldwin narrowly got to the title game winning a five-set thriller against Pine-Richland in the semifinals on Wednesday at North Hills. After losing the first two sets, Baldwin kept its season alive with three straight set wins.The Highlanders have recorded six sweeps this season…This is the first meeting of the season between the two teams.
