Gateway Stay Red Hot in PIAA Playoffs
The Gateway girls’ basketball team picked up their 17th straight win on Wednesday night with a 57-25 win against Harbor Creek at Farrell High School in the PIAA Second Round.
Known for their defense all season long, the Class 5A WPIAL champions delivered again with allowing another opponent under 30 points.
Gateway led 26-14 at halftime and continued its suffocating defense in the second half. They did not allow more than eight points in a quarter and held Harbor Creek to three points in the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Lexi Jackson almost outscored the opponent on her own with a game-high 19 points. Senior Jordan Edwards and junior Mary Kromka both finished with 10 points.
The Gators improved to 25-3 and will play Mars in the PIAA quarterfinals on Saturday at Canon-McMIllan at 1 p.m.
