Dream Season Continues; Butler with another comeback win
For the fourth time this postseason, Butler was able to come-from-behind and eliminate an opponent. This time the victim was Upper St. Clair as the Golden Tornado defeated the Panthers, 77-73, Wednesday night at the UPMC Event Center on the campus of Robert Morris.
Offensive game plans were very successful in the first quarter as Upper St. Clair led 32-23 after eight minutes. Defenses made adjustments in the second quarter, but Upper St. Clair continued to lead 44-38. It looked like Upper St. Clair was going to pull away up 10 points heading into the fourth quarter but, as Butler has done all playoffs, they were able to come back from a double-digit deficit and punch their ticket to the PIAA Quarterfinals with a 77-73 win.
Mattix Clement led the way for the Tornado with 26 points. Ethan Morton chipped in 21 points.
Butler improves to 22-4 overall. Upper St. Clair’s season end with a record of 21-5. Up next for the Golden Tornado will be McDowell (23-3) the District 10 champions in the PIAA Quarterfinals. The teams were scheduled to play in the regular season, but the game got cancelled due to weather.
