Chartiers Valley Undefeated WPIAL Season Ends With Title
Chartiers Valley Head Coach Tim McConnell knows the feeling of winning a championship with his sons. Now he knows the feeling of winning one with his daughter, Megan.
The McConnell’s and No. 1 Chartiers Valley completed the perfect WPIAL title run, knocking off No. 6 Thomas Jefferson for the third time this season, 64-48.
It is the second WPIAL title in three for the Colts.
Four of Chartiers Valley’s starters scored in double figures with junior Megan McConnell and freshman Aislin Malcolm leading the way with 18 points apiece. Seniors Gabi Legister and Mackenzie Wagner finished with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
The Colts’ defense played a pivotal role in the win as well, holding Thomas Jefferson to single digits in the first three quarters. The game was broken open during a 15-0 run in the second quarter.
Chartiers Valley also flexed its muscles on the glass, outrebounding Thomas Jefferson, 35-16. Both teams made eight 3-pointers in the game.
Thomas Jefferson was led by senior Jenna Clark with a game-high 19 points. Junior Alyssa DeAngelo finished with 17 points.
