Char Valley Defeats Thomas Jefferson for 4th Time; Advances To Title Game
It is easy to say the Chartiers Valley girls basketball team had Thomas Jefferson’s number this season.
The Colts defeated the Jaguars four times this season, including in the Class 5A WPIAL Championship Game and most recently, a 50-44 win in the PIAA semifinals on Tuesday at Peters Township High School.
As they have all season long, Chartiers Valley played with an early lead, jumping out to a 16-10 lead after the first quarter.
Thomas Jefferson was able to cut it to three, 22-19, at halftime, but was never able to make it over the hump.
The Colts were led by freshman Aislin Malcolm with 12 points. Senior Mackenzie Wagner and junior Megan McConnell each tallied 10 points.
Mike McConnell, who has had his fair share of success as the coach of the boys team, including six WPIAL titles, will be seeking his first state championship trophy.
Chartiers Valley (29-0) will have one more obstacle when they face District 12 champion, Archbishop Carroll (25-5) in the Championship Game on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey.
