Central Catholic Shuts Out Moon in Overtime

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team only netted two points in the overtime session on Saturday night, but it was enough to win 47-45 at Moon in the PBC Legends Classic.

The Vikings held the Tigers without a point in the extra period, knocking their point per game allowed average down to 54.3.

The matchup featured two of the top teams in Class 6A and 5A and potential WPIAL championship contenders.

Moon held a 27-23 lead at halftime, but both teams stayed within striking distance throughout the game.

SeniorĀ Luke Nedrow finished with a game-high 23 points for the Vikings. Nedrow scored 48.9 percent of his teams points. The Ryan brothers led Moon with Austin and Ryan both recording 10 points.

Central Catholic improves to 10-6 on the season. The Vikings will host Pine-Richland on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in a critical Section 1-6A matchup.

Moon drops to 14-4 and will also return to section play on Tuesday when they travel to Knoch at 7:30 p.m.
