Highlands Jumps On Franklin Regional, Teams Tied For First Place

Revenge was on the minds of the Highland’s boys basketball team when they stepped on their home court Tuesday night against Franklin Regional.

After suffering a 70-46 loss to the Panthers on Dec. 22, the Golden Rams got their revenge with an 87-68 win to pull to a first-place to with Franklin Regional. It was also the ninth consecutive win for Highlands.

The Golden Rams led 40-20 at the half and never trailed throughout the entire game.

It was a balanced scoring attack for the Golden Rams with five players in double figures led by senior Ryan Signorella and sophomore Luke Cochran with 17 points apiece. Senior Shawn Erceg had 16 points, and senior Romello Freeman and Johnny Crise finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Franklin Regional had four players in double figures led by senior Hunter Stonecheck with 17 points. Also scoring in double figures were senior Nate Leopold with 14 and seniors Aidan Sadoski and Jake Rosenberg with 10 apiece.

With the win, Highlands improves to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in Section 3-5A. They will travel to Armstrong on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The loss drops Franklin Regional to 11-4 and 5-1. They will look to stop their modest two-game losing streak on Friday when they host Gateway at 7:30 p.m.
