Big 56 Lands Two on Class 5A Boys Basketball First-Team All-State
On Thursday, the state released the Class 5A boys basketball all-state teams, with two Big 56 members receiving first-team all-state accolades.
Mars’ senior Michael Carmody and Laurel Highlands’ freshman Rodney Gallagher both were named by the Pennsylvania sports writers to the first team after their stellar seasons.
Carmody and Gallagher led their teams to the Class 5A WPIAL Championship Game this season, with Laurel Highlands winning the title.
As a freshman, Gallagher led the Mustangs with 23 points per game and has already received numerous Division I offers for basketball, as well as football.
Carmody is also a football standout who will be attending Notre Dame in the fall. He was also named to the all-state team after the football season as well. On the hardwood, he averaged 19 points and 19.5 rebounds per game.
Congratulations to Carmody and Gallagher on their accomplishment!
