Bethel Park Uses Defense To Fend Off Upper St. Clair
The Bethel Park girls basketball team held Upper St. Clair to 13 first half points on its way to a 48-39 Section 2-6A win at home on Monday night.
The win kept Bethel Park undefeated at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the section, one of three undefeated teams in the section.
After leading 30-13 at half, the Black Hawks had their lead cut down to 34-30 entering the fourth quarter after the Panthers came out and dominated the third quarter, 17-4.
Bethel Park was able to hold onto the slim lead for the win. Leading the Black Hawks were sophomore Olivia Westphal and junior Maddie Dziezgowski with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Bethel Park will travel to one of the other unbeatens in the section standings, Mt. Lebanon on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Upper St. Clair drops to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the section. The Panthers will host section favorite Peters Township on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
