Bethel Park redeem themselves against Peters Township
By Brianna Shannon
Redemption tastes sweet for the Bethel Park girls’ volleyball team as they beat Peters Township 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 5 in Indian territory. The Lady Hawks lost 3-0 to them earlier in the season, but the girls prevented the Indians from sweeping them in section play.
“We started out a little slow, but we were able to show up and finish strong,” co-captain Stephanie Kazalas said.
It was a slow start for Bethel Park as they lost the first set 25-20. The Lady Hawks were able to snag the following three sets with scores of 25-22, 25-22, and 25-17 with the help of senior Erin Sullivan, who led the team in kills with 18, and junior Brenna Manko, who followed Sullivan with nine kills.
The varsity team now stands at 7-4 overall and 5-3 in section.
The Hawks hope their momentum will carry over into next week’s away games at Oakland Catholic on Monday, Oct. 9 and Upper St. Clair on the 10th. They will finish out the week at Mount Lebanon on Thursday, Oct. 12. Both Upper St. Clair and Mount Lebanon are section rematches.
