By Alex Mullen
Friday the 13th turned into a nightmare for Canon-McMillan as Bethel Park defended their home turf with a 48-16 win.
Anthony Chiccitt, the Black Hawks sophomore quarterback, completed 10 of 13 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns. Chiccitt had the third most passing yards amongst all of the WPIAL quarterbacks for the week.
The Black Hawks stayed balanced throughout the game with senior running back Tanner Volpatti rushing for over 100 yards.
The win improved Bethel Park to 6-1 and 4-0 in the Class 6A Southeastern Conference. They remain a half-game behind Mt. Lebanon for first place. Canon-McMillan dropped down to.500 with a 4-4 record and 2-3 in the conference. They currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the conference.
The Hawks look to boost their record against Altoona this Friday, Oct. 21.
“If we continue playing the way we have been, we should get the job done,” Chiccitt said. “But also we can’t them lightly.”
