BASEBALL

NON-SECTION

Armstrong 11, Highlands 5

Logan Badac homered and had three RBIs and Caden Rupert had two hits as Armstrong (14-6) defeated Highlands (3-15) in nonsection play on Thursday. Mikey Alworth had two hits for Highlands.

Canon-McMillan 9, Hampton 1

Roman Mollenauer, Mason Fixx and Andrew Kocan each homered as Canon-McMillan (15-5) slugged their way past Hampton (8-9) in nonsection action.

Connellsville 4, Uniontown 1

Beau Bigam threw a complete-game, striking out 14 hitters as Connellsville (9-11) finished their regular season with a win over Uniontown (7-8). 

North Allegheny 6, Fox Chapel 5 – 10 innings

Andrew Hart hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning to give North Allegheny (13-6) the comeback win over Fox chapel (12-8). North Allegheny trailed 5-2 going into the seventh inning. Spencer Barnett had two hits for North Allegheny. Troy Susnak had two RBIs for Fox Chapel.

Hempfield 10, Franklin Regional 4

Carson Shuglie homered and Gage Wheaton had two RBIs as Hempfield (11-9) defeated Franklin Regional (12-8) on Thursday. Daniel Luko had two hits and drove in two runs. 

Hopewell 5, New Castle 4

Landon Fox had three RBIs as Hopewell (8-11) won over New Castle (4-10) on Thursday afternoon in a nonsection tilt.

Bethel Park 5, Montour 0

Evan Holewinski was 2-for-3 with a home run and drove in three runs as Bethel Park (15-4) beat Montour (17-3) in a battle of defending state champions. 

South Fayette 7, Moon 0

Tyler Pitzer was 2-for-2 as South Fayette (15-4) shutout Moon (8-11) on Thursday.

North Hills 5, Penn Hills 1

Dylan Barnes had two hits as North Hills (13-6) picked up a nonsection victory over Penn Hills (3-13) on Thursday afternoon.

Butler 6, Penn-Trafford 5

Noah Collins homered as Butler (12-8) took down Penn-Trafford (13-5) in nonsection play on Thursday.

North Allegheny 7, Trinity 0

JD Costanzo struck out 15 hitters in six innings of work as North Allegheny (14-6) won their second game of the day shutting out Trinity (6-9). David Posey had two hits and drove in two runs. Anthony Varlotta also drove in two for North Allegheny.

West Allegheny 8, Chartiers Valley 2

Brock Cornell drove in three runs while Brady Miller and Liam Scheider each had two RBIs as West Allegheny (14-6) finished the regular season with an 8-2 win over Chartiers Valley (13-6). Kacey Threats had two hits for Chartiers Valley.

Peters Township 13, Laurel Highlands 3

NON-SECTION

Avonworth 8, North Hills 3

Leah Kuban, Emma Obersteiner and Jayla Jones each homered as Avonworth (17-1) picked up an impressive nonsection win over North Hills (14-3) on Thursday afternoon in a playoff tune-up for both squads.

Mt. Pleasant 3, Connellsville 0

Sophia Smithnosky homered at the plate and threw a shutout in the circle as Mt. Pleasant (11-8) defeated Connellsville (2-14) in nonsection play. Tagan Basinger collected two hits for Connellsville.

Elizabeth Forward 6, Penn-Trafford 1

Julia Resnick homered and drove in three runs while Hannah Evan had two RBIs as Elizabeth Forward (16-0) stayed unbeaten defeating Penn-Trafford (6-11) 6-1 on Thursday afternoon. 

Baldwin 9, Keystone Oaks 6

Kaylee Smolko had three RBIs as Baldwin (3-17) ended their season on a high note with a 9-6 nonsection win over Keystone Oaks (0-15) Addisyn Schmid had two home runs and drove in four runs for Keystone Oaks.

Trinity 5, Montour 4

Hann Suhoski hit a walk-off homer in the seventh inning to give Trinity (15-2) a nice nonsection win over Montour (13-3). Addison Agnew also homered for Trinity. Shania Cope picked up two hits for Montour.

Blackhawk 11, Moon 10

Keira Rodu had four RBIs as Blackhawk (6-11) outslugged Moon (6-9) in nonsection play. Ava Karpa homered for Moon.

McKeesport 4, Penn Hills 2

Jessica Miller had two hits as McKeesport (9-10) defeated Penn Hills (7-10) in nonsection play on Thursday. Shania Lewis had two RBIs for Penn Hills.

Peters Township 14, Mt. Lebanon 7

Sami Bewick had two hits including a home run and Makenzie Morgan and Olivia Donoghue also homered as Peters Township (7-10) slugged their way to a 14-7 win on Thursday. Brooke Boehmer homered twice for Mt. Lebanon.

Latrobe 9, Serra Catholic 1

Josie Straigis and Grace Henigen homered as Latrobe (14-3) rolled to a 9-1 win over Serra Catholic (15-3) in nonsection play.
